Frequently asked questions
Find answers to the most common questions about the SAR system, its installation, operation and maintenance.
The SAR (Refrigerated Storage System) is a hermetic, refrigerated container designed specifically for the temporary storage of mortalities on livestock farms. Manufactured with a double sealed polyethylene tank, fibreglass insulation and a backpack-type cooling unit, it maintains the contents at 4-5 °C storage temperature until collection by authorised SANDACH management services.
The SAR system reduces collection frequency by up to 95% compared to the traditional system, going from weekly collections to intervals of 45 days in summer and up to 60 days for the rest of the year.
The system has a load capacity of 5 to 6 tonnes. Different models are being developed to make the SAR accessible to farms of any size.
Yes. The SAR system is designed to fully comply with SANDACH regulations (CE Regulation 1069/2009) and all regional and national legislation applicable to the management of animal by-products not intended for human consumption.
Yes. The SAR is available on a rental basis with a fixed monthly fee, allowing access to the solution without a high initial investment. Contact our team to receive a personalised proposal.
Maintenance is minimal. The cooling unit requires a biannual review by a specialist refrigeration company. The polyethylene tank is corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.
The SAR incorporates temperature sensors that continuously monitor the interior of the tank. If the temperature deviates from the optimal range of 4-5 °C, the system generates automatic alerts. The remote connectivity system allows the farmer to check the equipment status at any time.
